How bottom-up innovations and collaborative practices have moved the design agency from the user’s desires to the collectivity’s empowerment.
Serena Cangiano
Serena Cangiano is Head of Digital fabrication Laboratory and tenured researcher at Institute of Design at SUPSI. From digital social innovation to creative technology, she carried out applied projects involving the development of interactive products, platforms and innovative processes through open design methods.
In 2015, She completed a doctoral research at Iuav in Venice on open hardware and design practices. She co-edited “Open Technologies'', the issue n. 30 of Progetto Grafico; the book “Rebelling with Care”. Her last publication is included in the book “The Critical Makers Reader - (Un)Learning Technologies".
She is a board member of Swiss Design Network, the academic network for design research in Switzerland, and since 2010 she is teacher and member of the managing staff at MAS (MA) in Interaction Design SUPSI.
