The Modern Séance is drawn from the historical séance: a ritual built on the possibility of contact with something beyond the visible. Conditions are arranged, energy is channeled, something is expected to emerge. Technology assumes the role of medium. Sensors read the body, translate its energy into signal, and that signal shapes smoke. An AI trained to recognise human faces looks into the smoke for patterns. It does not interpret. It only sees, and reports. What the algorithm finds, we cannot say. The séance was always this way: the medium produced, and meaning belonged to those receiving it. That was never a flaw. That was the ritual.
