Friction By Design
Module ID400 Master Thesis Project 2025Mentor
Simone Chiani
This research investigates how intentional friction in digital experiences can help counter digital fatigue and restore user agency. Drawing on behavioral theories and design case studies, it reframes friction as a positive force that fosters reflection, engagement, and learning. By identifying key moments where friction adds value rather than creates obstacles, the project proposes a framework for designing digital interactions that are more meaningful, mindful, and human-centered, encouraging users to slow down and reconnect with their digital environments.
