The MAInD Expanded Talks series opens the new year with a special guest, Rina Shumylo.
Rina Shumylo is a toy maker, innovator, interaction designer, and art director. She currently designs interactive toys at the LEGO Group. Her work explores the intersection of the digital and physical, blending playfulness and technology to make the world a more playful and inspiring place. She believes in beauty as a function, technology as a craft, and complex systems shaped by simple principles.
This talk explores playful tangible interfaces that move beyond buttons and screens, using bodies, objects, and space as interaction materials. Through examples from toys, products, art installations, and immersive experiences, it reflects on the role of playfulness and physicality in shaping engaging interactive experiences.
