Join us for an online talk with Computational Mama, artist and creative technologist, exploring coding, art, and generative AI as forms of care, community, and creative practice.
The talk will take you through the practice of Computational Mama. Understanding the ideas of community building and care, and how they inform creative coding practices. We will also talk very briefly about how she is building a solar-powered DIY setup for anyone to train/host/run their own small language models.
Computational Mama’s work explores coding, art and generative AI as a form of camaraderie, friendship, motherhood and self-care. She develops and facilitates beginner content and workshops for creative computation, new approaches to computational thinking and the use of generative AI tools. Her generative AI work explores the biases inherent in large data and generative AI, and she has been exploring the spaces where motherhood and AI converge.
She has been the recipient of the prestigious Processing Foundation Fellowship (US), curated AIxDesign’s AI Playground program (Netherlands) and has been a speaker at BUMP Festival 2023 (Belgium), Screenwalks 2023 (UK/Switzerland), Distortion Series 2023 (Switzerland) and Iterations 2021 (Netherlands). Her work has been featured in India Art Fair (2022) and Vorspiel / transmediale & CTM (2021).
She co-runs a creative technology studio called Ajaibghar. And consults for GenAI startup Gooey.AI.
